Envisioning A Haley Win In 2024

Back in the summer I opined that I thought a woman would be the next President of the United States and that person would be Nikki Haley. I didn’t know how it was going to happen, just that I believed it would. I suspected that Trump would be convicted of insurrection and be barred from appearing on the ballot and possibly the Republican nomination.

It now appears that while that may still happen, it will take too long for this to all play out. I am also surprised by the extent of Trump’s hold on the GOP. I had thought the string of election losses in the House and Senate would have caused more Republicans to look elsewhere. They haven’t. So it would seem that if Nikki Haley is going to be the next President, she will have to do something unprecedented since George Washington and win the White House as an independent.  Of course this will already be an unprecedented election with two geezers leading their respective parties into a general election rematch.

Many people are surprised that Haley has not conceded to Trump and has held onto campaign in State primaries where polling suggests she has little chance of winning. But if you believe as I do that she is in this for the long haul, then it makes perfect sense to ride this out as long as possible and get as much media attention in a Party nomination battle.  I fully expect her to pivot next month to an independent candidate.

At first, she probably won’t poll all that well, but a slew of October surprises will spur her into the lead as she grabs support from centrist voters in both parties. Expect Trump to get tied up into legal issues that will bleed some of his support, but that won’t be enough to get Haley over the top. The other shoe to drop will be Biden’s health that will get enough Blue Dog Democrats to vote Haley on the top of their tickets for her to pull off an incredible political victory.

Haley’s biggest competition will not come from her American opponents, but rather America’s foreign adversaries. They will pull out all their election interference tricks to keep a competent leader from becoming President.  The fake accounts are already heating up, but in their zeal, I predict they will go overboard and be exposed by a more suspicious public. This backlash against the fake will help propel Haley as her underdog status will resonate with Americans of all political stripes.

Yes, what I am prophesying is unprecedented, but America is ready for change. The conditions could not be better for such a stark contrast between old and new, male and female, real and fake. Partisan and independent.

Election 2024 is going to be a wild ride. But at the end of it all, Haley will be the last, independent woman standing.
